PIHA

The day after our trip to Muriwai we decided to pay the notoriously dangerous, Piha, a visit. Since the swell and conditions were still good we packed our surfboards into the car. Upon arrival there was rain, it always rains when I visit Piha I think it adds to the rugged feeling of the West Coast though, and lucky for us we were going to get wet in the sea anyway. Before we hopped in we climbed Lion Rock we scouted the waves and enjoyed the misty views. The south side of Lion Rock was busy with a surf school or something, so we decided to go to the less popular North side. The proper waves were breaking too far out for Liam to bother paddling out, but the conditions in the shallow white water were perfect and I was a lot closer to standing up, though still no success. Next time I'll get it though, I can feel it!
