Finally back on New Zealand soil, and whilst Australia was awesome and full of some amazing experiences, nothing quite beats the familiarity and feeling of being home. In the week that we've been back we have been living out a classic kiwi summer: spending a couple days on the Coromandel Penninsula in Whangamata, having a belated 21st birthday barbeque and making a trip up to the Warkworth Old Cement Works. However, a kiwi summer isn't complete without a trip to one of Auckland's west coast beaches. On this particular day we ventured out to Muriwai, a notorious surf spot, because the conditions were right with offshore winds and a bit of swell. Since I still have a lot of practise to do, before I can be photographed standing on the board and not getting a face full of sand, I decided to stay behind the camera and capture some shots of Liam in action.
