Cape Reinga
During our time in the Bay of Islands we did a tour up to the northern most point of New Zealand, Cape Reinga. On our way North we drove along 90 Mile Beach, not actually 90 miles but nicknamed this because of the 90 mile desert which is the beach and surrounding dune area. Here we had the opportunity to dune board down the steep sandy slopes. I was too much of a coward but Liam gave it a go. Unfortunately there was a small river at the bottom of the dune which meant you couldn't pick up much speed if you wanted to stay dry. It was a bit too cold to get wet but the splash at the bottom would be perfect in summer time. We then continued north up to Cape Reinga. That day the weather was forecast to be cloudy with some showers but we were lucky enough to get clear blue skies. We could even see the Three Kings Islands in the distance. The views of the Cape are spectacular and I hope I managed to somewhat capture it's beauty. A visit up to Cape Reinga and 90 Mile Beach are definitely a must do in the North Island!
