Last Days of Leicester

It has been far too long since my last blog post. This is mainly due to the fact that I haven't been anywhere very interesting recently. Well, that is all about to change.
I'm now continuing on my travels and it's time to say goodbye. These are some of the photos I took to mark one of my last days in Leicester.

With our leaving in a few days and some extremely rare and lovely weather, a trip to one of the nearby parks, Abbey Park, was essential. I never thought of Leicester as one of the most exciting of cities, but hidden treasures like Abbey Park, make me appreciate it so much more. It shows us a small glimpse at old English history. History like this you just don't get in New Zealand. We wandered through the old ruins of a 12th Century Abbey, basking in the suns fading light and even seeing/chasing some natural wildlife (it is only slightly embarrassing how fascinated I am by squirrels).

Within my six months here I have become quite settled, and made some truly wonderful friends that I will miss dearly. Hopefully I will see them again soon, maybe even on their own travels. Well, onwards with my own journey. It's time to start packing and head onto my new adventure. Keep an eye out for many more blog posts to come.
