Weekend in Paris - Day One

Paris Gare de Nord Train Station

The Notre Dame

Eiffel Tower
Last week I took the opportunity to visit the City of Love, Paris. The thought of going alone to visit such a romantic city may daunt some of you, and though I was not lucky enough to fall in love with some Parisian boy, I fell in love with the city instead. This is a city I've only ever dreamed of visiting as a little girl, a dreamland on the other side of the world, and now I can see for myself why so many other people dream of visiting Paris too.

Upon arriving I immediately headed towards Notre Dame. Situated right next to a canal, surrounded by wilting autumn trees in a variety of reds, yellows and oranges, it was a picture of beauty like none I've seen before. That's when it hit me that I was finally in Paris, and shamelessly I let a few tears escape my eyes. Safe to say that was the only time I allowed myself to be so melodramatic. Afterwards I enjoyed a nutella crepe from a local vendor, picked up some postcards (have started a nice wall display in my room), and then headed towards The Eiffel Tower.

Travelling on the metro was an exciting, and confusing experience, but I managed to get there just a bit before dark. Because I was feeling brave (and on a budget), I decided to climb the stairs to the second floor, bracing myself against the icy winds the whole way up. The view from the top was breathtaking, but seeing the Eiffel Tower light up was even more amazing and I think that she is even more beautiful at night.  Day one in Paris was confusing, and exhausting but everything I expected and more.
