KARANGAHAKE

These are photos from my third trip to Karangahake Gorge and I am still discovering new places. On a previous visit (here) we did the walk that takes you along the main road through the gorge, this time however we did the Windows Walk. This walk takes you away from the traffic and up along another part of the gorge to an old mining shaft. Whilst there's some light from the windows along the way, I'd definitely recommend a torch as the path is a bit uneven/slipper and the old tracks are still in place. The gorge is a fascinating, beautiful and often over-looked. Since my family have recently bought a holiday home in Whangamata, I hope to make a lot more stops here at the gorge to break up the drive and find something new to discover! Do you have any hidden Coromandel gems?

Note: All photos are my own (except photos of me taken by @jennarattray)
